Committees give members with common interests the opportunity to exchange ideas, further their education, and develop policies that benefit their areas of interest and the industry. Take a moment to explore the different Committees available through the HBA.
New-Marketing and Communications
Develops and manages the communications strategy for the HBA. This includes developing a brand for the HBA, helping to produce and host the HBA’s weekly radio program House Calls and identify unique strategic marketing opportunities for the Association.
New-Programs and Events
Help to develop and new and interesting programs and events for the membership. Current events include; Golf Tournament, Annual Outing, General Membership Meetings, Holiday Party, and others. The HBA is always looking for new ideas for effective and timely programs.
New - Education
Help to identify education programs and activities that will meet member needs to increase their skill by developing the program of certification classes that will be offered each year. These include seminars, workshops, conferences, and other educational opportunities that help members build their personal and professional skills.
Home Show
Help produce Connecticut's largest and longest running Home and Remodeling Show. Started in 1947 this is Connecticut’s largest Home and Remodeling Show drawing more than twenty thousand visitors to see more than 650 booths. The Committee and sub-committees work with the staff to produce this fantastic event each year.
Safety
Foster the strategic alliance with OSHA and develop safety training and education courses for members, their management and employees. The Safety Committee received a nationwide award from NAHB in 2007 for the best local association’s safety program in the United States.
Local Government Affairs
Work to identify local issues that have an impact on the home building industry. The Committee will make recommendations to the Board of Directors on local, regional and state positions for the HBA to take.
Membership
Focus on implementing the strategic plan for new member enrollment and retention. Work with the Ambassador committee to determine what events and member benefits are working and those that need to be improved upon to better meets the needs of members.
Ambassador
Serve as representatives of the HBA and attend various events as well as “adopt” new members for the first year of membership. The Ambassadors are deeply involved in the HBA and are knowledgeable regarding Association benefits and services. One of the main duties as an ambassador is to concentrate on retention by reaching out to current members to determine those programs and events that are working for the members and those that are not beneficial. Ambassadors also bring suggestions from members regarding new services and are active in recruiting new members.
Remodelers Council
The Council serves members that specialize in, or are associated with, the remodeling and industry. The Council members share the common goals of providing quality, service, and value to their members, increasing professionalism and developing leaders, and improving the performance of its members. Members of the committee represent the remodeling industry and receive the benefit of consumer marketing programs, essential education, professional designations, and the experience of their professional peers.
Connecticut Developers Council
The CT Developers Council identifies the special problems and serves the special needs of residential, commercial and industrial real estate developers and it is the voice of the real estate development industry in Connecticut. The Council is made up of land developers, builders, attorneys, engineers, bankers, real estate agents and brokers, architects, landscape architects, surveyors, planners and allied trade associations -- all working together to achieve common goals. Connecticut Sales & Marketing Council
The CT Sales & Marketing Council provides training, education and site visits to successful developments around the state. Through the National Sales & Marketing Council, members also receive additional training, awards and recognition programs, Sales & Marketing Ideas magazine, and additional sales and marketing tools for members.
